The European Trauma Course (ETC) is a 2.5-day, hands-on course held at:

Course Description

As a Trauma Support Practitioner, you will be part of multidisciplinary trauma team that works together to manage an unwell major trauma patient. 

You will:
Assist with airway, breathing and circulation tasks.
Assist team leader and team members in management of trauma patients.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary trauma team.

·         Format

The course is predominantly practical, with workshops and skill stations. It includes: 

·         Two interactive lectures 

·         One faculty demonstration 

·         A personal mentor for each candidate 

·         Debriefings after each scenario 

·         A summative assessment on the final day

This role is ideal for NHS staff and University Health & Wellbeing professionals with experience in acute or emergency care.

Essential criteria:
• Registered Nurse, ODP, Paramedic, Allied Health Professional or equivalent
• Current role within the NHS or University Health & Wellbeing services
• Working knowledge of the ABCDE approach and management of trauma patients
• Confidence assisting with airway management, monitoring and basic trauma interventions
• Comfortable working in simulated, time‑critical environments

Cancellation requests must be made in writing to medicineshortcourses@greatermanchester.ac.uk and must be received within the required notice period. If you do not attend a course, and have not previously informed us, the full course fee remains payable.
